After picking up road cycling at 15 my world changed forever and I eventually turned my passion into a career at 19. While I enjoy all aspects of cycling whether it be MTB, gravel, CX, it is road cycling that has captured my heart. Racing, training or the good old café roll, I can’t get enough.
My perfect day is a structure of training ride, sitting down with a coffee and watching any type of cycling race that’s going on around the world.
Cycling feeds my competitive streak and brings me a certain freedom, this is even better when mixed with the wonderful people I’ve met along the way. -

After emigrating from Wales in 1987 I started cycling in order to take up triathlon. When running became too hard, cycling took over. I replaced triathlons with endurance challenges like Three Peaks and in recent years I developed a love for Mountain Bike XC races (the longer the better). Specifically, I enjoy the challenge of the Hiddenvale 24hr event as well as gravel events on the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail. Participating in overseas adventures, such as riding from London to Paris as part of an event aiding handicapped cyclists following the Tour de France, bring me a sense of joy and accomplishment too.
Cycling fuels my competitive spirit, love of being outdoors and exploring SE QLD. I love working in an industry learning about what you love to do, it is very rewarding.

I have had a passion for bicycles from an early age. Starting BMX racing at the age of 5. Every weekend was spent travelling the country racing bikes. I continued to race BMX until the age of 16 when I discovered mountain biking. Although I enjoy all forms of mountain biking, it is the gravity side of the sport that I have always been drawn towards. Competing in Downhill racing in the beginning, then also Gravity Enduro in the more recent years. In that time my mountain bike has taken me to many amazing places including Canada and New Zealand. Over the years I have seen a massive evolution in bikes. Nowadays you will find me out on the trails enjoying this in the form of electric-assisted mountain bikes. These bikes have given me the joy and exhilaration I once experienced as a child.

Some of my fondest memories have been created through riding my bike. Riding to school was my first feeling of independence.
From racing my mates at 4 years old to exploring our local area at an older age provided a sense of adventure that a bike brings into your life and is why it has since stayed in mine.
I began racing Triathlons in high school and by 26 I began training in an adult Triathlon squad in search of my full potential. Racing all distances, some better than others I found myself going full gas along the suspended white concrete highways above Tampa Bay, Florida at the inaugural 70.3 World Champs.
In 2005 I turned my hand professionally to Triathlon Coaching, Personal Training, founding a Triathlon club which led to running and coaching multiple training camps based in the UK, Spain, France and Switzerland. Furthermore, I conducted cycling tours throughout Tuscany, Italy creating unforgettable memories with my clients and of course, the bike. Cycling is pure joy on the best of days and can seriously challenge your mind, heart, and soul on the worse of days.
I feel honoured and privileged to be in my position of ride consultant with Specialized Bikes at Studio de Velo. I now get to leverage my experience and passion for cycling onto our show room floor and provide the best instore experience for all current (discerning) and future customers.
